Margaça, meaning small white flower, is the location of an area that had been cultivated over four generations when neighbors worked together for the benefit of the community. This name has been passed down from generation to generation in the local town of Fajazinha.
Our family has taken on the monumental challenge to strengthen and preserve the integrity of cultural heritage and environmental conservation of private lands from generational neglect to produce immense benefit for the island of Flores through food security, biodiversity, conservation, natural aesthetics, and giving. Margaça includes 10 acres of invasive forest and 4 acres of a traditional garden around the lagoon.
The Garden of Margaça serves as a catalyst and venue where guests of the garden can find solitude, inspiration, and purpose from the natural beauty that is Flores. The garden is available through private tours.
